Dacono hosts the Carbon Valley Music Festival that features a line-up of talented local and regional musicians as well as food, crafts and a spectacular fireworks show.

Dacono is also home to Colorado National Speedway, a NASCAR sanctioned 3/8ths mile paved oval track.

Firestone

In the last decade, the Town of Firestone has been the fastest-growing municipality in Colorado. Although residents enjoy low taxes, Firestone has excellent public services and a high-quality school system. Firestone, striving to be the best small town in the USA, takes pride in its 4th of July festivities, the town’s signature event.

History

History of Dacono, Colorado

The town of Dacono began as a small coal mining and agricultural community that grew as a result of the railroad running a line through town. The name Dacono was created by the town’s co-founder, Charles Lockhard Baum, who used the first two letters of three significant women in his life: his wife, Daisy, and two other women (Dacono residents) Cora and Nora. The town was incorporated in 1908.

Many of Dacono’s first settlers were European immigrants from Italy, Greece, France and Bulgaria that came to Colorado to work in the coal mines. Dacono’s farmers grew everything from wheat and grains to sugar beets, potatoes and corn.

The coal mining business in Dacono declined in the 1970s when natural gas was discovered and replaced coal. In recent years, Dacono has seen a rise in population with its affordable housing, proximity to Denver, and friendly, small town atmosphere.

History of Firestone, Colorado

Firestone, Colorado was named for local landholder, Jacob Firestone, and was incorporated in 1908. Little is known about Firestone’s roots, but the town likely began as an agricultural and coal mining community like neighboring Dacono and Frederick.

In the last decade, Firestone has experienced a significant rate of growth in both residential and commercial development. The town expects growth to continue with its prime location off I-25 as well as the town’s stable, safe and welcoming environment.

 History of Frederick, Colorado

The Town of Frederick, named for one of the original landowners, Frederick Clark, began as a coal mining town with only a few hundred residents. Incorporated in 1907, immigrants from France, Greece, Italy, Turkey and Latin America came to Frederick for coal mining opportunities.

The coal mining business declined in the 1970s when natural gas was discovered and replaced coal. During the last few years, Frederick has seen a dramatic increase in population.
